The 28z comes equipped with a front mounted V style rim brake for excellent stopping power and a rear mounted, fully enclosed Servo brake for reliable operation in any weather condition.
Riding Modes
The DYnamo 28z offers three riding modes; Peddle Only, Peddle Assist (PAS)
and Electric Only.
The 28z can be ridden just like any other bicycle in Peddle Only mode by disengaging the ignition switch on the battery. By turning off power to the motor, the motor spins freely, requiring no additional effort by the rider to peddle. This allows a rider to operate the 28z even when the battery is completely discharged.
Peddle Assist (PAS) mode is automatically engaged when the battery ignition switch is in the 'on' position. A torque sensor in the hub motor automatically senses when you are peddling and provides additional power when it is needed.
In Electric Only mode, a motorcycle style throttle on the bike's right handle allows the rider to manually adjust how much power the motor is providing. This allows the rider to travel completely on the motor without ever having to peddle.
Battery
The battery is a Hi-tech 36V 10Ah Lithium Polymer battery. Lithium Polymer batteries are even lighter than the previous top of the line Lithium Ion batteries, which means the 28z
provides more power for less weight. Unlike Nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) and Sealed Lead Acid (SLA) batteries, the Lithium Polymer battery has no problems with charge memory. The batteries can be charged at any battery state and are charged from empty in less than 6 hours. Lithium Polymer batteries also have the longest lifespan of any battery type, over 500 charge cycles.
Motor
A powerful, yet quiet, 250 watt brushless DC permanent magnet motor sits inconspicuously in the rear wheel. Capable of delivering a peak 500 watts of power, this little motor will easily climb any grade hill with a minimum of effort from the rider. When disengaged, the motor spins freely, causing no excess drag when operating in peddle only mode. The enclosed, maintenance free design provides excellent protection from the elements.
